Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-04

The short version: we use the smallest amount of browser storage needed to keep you signed in, and we run no advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

This page explains exactly what that means.

1. Browser storage we use

Rather than a traditional login cookie, OttoSM keeps your session token in your browser's own storage — localStorage or sessionStorage, depending on the choice you make at sign-in.

  • If you tick "remember me", the token is kept in localStorage so you stay signed in after closing the tab
  • If you do not, it goes in sessionStorage and disappears when you close the tab
  • Signing out removes it immediately

It exists purely so you are not asked to log in again on every page. It is not shared with anyone.

2. Cookies our own servers set

Our application may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies on our own domains, for session handling and for cross-site request forgery protection. These keep the service secure and functional.

They are not used to track you, they are not read by any third party, and they carry no advertising identifier.

3. What we do not use

We think this is the part worth being specific about. We do not use:

  • Third-party analytics or audience-measurement scripts
  • Advertising, retargeting or conversion-tracking pixels
  • Cross-site profiling or data-broker tags
  • Social media "like" or share widgets that phone home

If that ever changes we will update this page first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

4. Third-party pages

When you connect a social account, part of that process happens on the platform's own website — for example Facebook's login screen. Those pages set their own cookies under their own policies, which we neither control nor can see. Similarly, our payment provider sets its own cookies on its checkout pages.

5. Your choices

You can clear cookies and browser storage for this site at any time from your browser's privacy or site-data settings, and you can block cookies entirely.

Be aware that clearing or blocking them signs you out, and that blocking the strictly necessary items means the service cannot work.
